Asteroid TU-24 misses earth.

Asteroid TU-24 (pictured in a low-res. image from NASA) passed us by on Tuesday at around 1.4 times the moon's distance from Earth. David Sereda said that according to his contact at Lockheed, we may have sent a craft to divert the orbit of TU-24. Recent fireballs seen in the skies could have been fragments from the asteroid, Sereda suggested. He also referenced a Rand Corp. report Astronomical Odds, which indicates that 30% of the public wouldn't want to know if an asteroid impact was imminent. Check out Coast to Coast AM for more information.

The Truth Behind Number Shapes

Have you ever thought why ........ 1 means "one", and 2 means "two"? The roman numerals are easy to understand but what was the logic behind the phonecian numbers?
It's the number of angles. If one writes the numbers down (see above) on a piece of paper in their older forms, one quickly sees why.
No 1 has one angle.
No 2 has two angles.
No 3 has three angles.
etc.

and "O" has no angles

Cloverfield

After following all the hype for the last six months Cloverfield, the new film from J.J. Abrams, has come out and all the speculation on what the monster was going to be was way off. It was a fresh take on how to make a big monster movie and although the shaky cam ala The Blair Witch Project may have made a few people motion sick, it didn't bother me at all. This picture is non stop after the first ten minutes or so and is almost over too soon. I would have liked to see more of that huge monstrosity and what exactly it is, where it came from and many other unanswered questions. Maybe in the future J.J. will bring us the next installment of this and we will have those questions answered. Overall I enjoyed the movie and would very much recomend it, just don't go into it thinking it will be like the other big monster films from the past i.e. King Kong and Godzilla.

Behold, the power of wackos er Scientologists...

From Gawker.com "The Cruise Indoctrination Video Scientology Tried To Suppress

You have to watch this video. It shows Tom Cruise, with all the wide-eyed fervor that he brings to the promotion of a movie, making the argument for Scientology, the bizarre 20th-century religion. Making the argument is an understatement. The Hollywood actor, star of movies such as Mission Impossible, is a complete fanatic. "When you're a Scientologist, and you drive by an accident, you know you have to do something about it, because you know you're the only one who can really help... We are the way to happiness. We can bring peace and unite cultures." There's much much more. Let me put it this way: if Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah's couch was an 8 on the scale of scary, this is a 10."
